Luckyiam

You think you know Luckyiam from his work with The Mystik Journeymen and the Living Legends? Get ready for a whole new Luckyiam.   He has released solo records with heavy underground acclaim, but this is his first opportunity to be on a team that includes proper distribution, a fully staffed and charged record label(Cornerstone R.A.S.) an ideal booking agent, and is ready to capture lightning perfectly inside a bottle.  That's not to mention his evolution as an emcee who knows how to deliver a ridiculously catchy hook.

In the early 90's Luckyiam studied the art of dope Left Coast hip hop at the Goodlife Cafe among heavyweights Freestyle Fellowship & countless others. Wanting to create his own style and identity in hip hop, he headed north to the bay area shortly after the infamous L.A. Riots and joined The Mystik Journeymen with Sunspot Jonz.  Luckyiam is the co-founder of  The Living Legends.

Luckyiam recorded his most personal, and what will surely be looked at as his crowning achievement to date, Most Likely To Succeed, the 3rd installment in the Extra Credit series.  The album includes Lucky’s most mature verses and the slickest consistent production to be found on one of his records yet.  Then throw in A-Level indie hip hop cred from guests like Aesop Rock, Slug, and Mickey Avalon among others.  Humbly, Lucky set out to learn more solid song structure and arrangement, as well as the art of a great hook in many sessions with co-conspirator Marty James (One Block Radius, Scapegoat Wax).  On “Best I Can” Lucky offers a hopeful sing-along view of his reality with some Mayfield era soulful vibing to compliment.  “Tear Him Down” follows that with a bit of a darker acknowledgment of his personal demons that signifies a real growth both musically and personally in his drive to improve in all areas.

“With this album I think I figured out the difference between giving the world good music & letting down my guards to let loose a piece of Great Music.” Lucky explains. “I dunno, I'm just ready to make the most out of the opportunity I've been blessed with. It's my turn.”

Having rocked every major hip hop event you can name, Lucky is stepping into a spotlight in front of thousands of hands waving in the air just as the record drops.  He will be performing his own set on all shows, as well as his part in the Living Legends group set. And, in line with the release, top level urban clothing label L-R-G will feature Lucky in a national glossy full page ad campaign.  The pieces are in place, table set, Lucky is ready to head to the top of the class.
