This is the most infuriating article Ive read in awhile. Raves dont cause drug overdoses, people who abuse drugs do.

As an ER employee and seeing kids around my age arrive at the ER for drug overdose and injuries caused by their own stupidity can be frustrating. I understand this on the medical side but don't understand why they want to cancel the events. That's just asinine as a ratio of 100:185,000 is real good. When kids use drugs they assume all responsibility, it's their own fault if they go into respiratory or cardiac arrest due to overdose. Pretty sad site resuscitating a kid, then seeing the parents and breaking the news.

the fire marshall reported just over 200 injuries for event that had 185,000 people attending. sounds pretty successful to me. its sad and heartbreaking though that people have to die, young people die, kids die but its not really the fault of insomniac. insomniac didnt hold a gun to these kids head and tell them to take those pills.

Yeah just because you bring more people the next year doesn't mean it's a good thing. The more crowded it gets the more dangerous it is, for everyone. I stopped going to insomniac events for that reason Fuck EDC

Some may not agree with me but I rather have an event shut down and participants given their money back rather than an event where 200 people are hurt and someone dies.

@bobby_james Yea, I thought it was going to be shut down. I was at the event and saw all the shit that was going on. I told my friend, "I think they might cancel tomorrow's event". I agree with you bro, I rather see an event canceled then know a kid died due to his or another person's stupid actions. @KcNekro Unfortunately it happened in HARD Summer 2009. The event was canceled due to all the kids jumping down to the ground floor. Many injuries that night a kid got badly injured when jumped down and hit a rail. I saw it with my own eyes.




You can't blame the people who organize the event for the stupid actions of those kids. Blame the people who are breaking the rules and end up getting hurt.

I was @ HARD summer 09 @flippinsweetjosh, that was also because of the venue, and the amount of people let into that venue. crazy night, we booked it when we saw the police out side, I got into a fight with some asshole cause his gf spilled her beer on me. it was stupid. I hate fighting.

I used to go to insomniac events, I went for five year's and in 08 it just got lame, overcrowded and I couldn't enjoy it anymore and I still don't, so I stopped going.

there is a temporary ban on raves @ the coliseum pending review (EDC was supposed to be a 16+ event) and now some la county douchebag wants to extend that ban to all raves even ones already planned in socal. they do that and they will have a shitstorm on their hands. @flippinsweetjosh Look at it this way. The City of Torrance has 149,000 people. If one day 185 people were injured, it would be breaking news for that entire week. We've just come to accept it as 'rave culture' but we shouldnt.

And we won't have these problems at HARD because its General admission around and no one will be hopping gates. And hopefully Gary is learning from EDC's mistakes and putting proper bathrooms all around the venue and professional security which I believe he is cause after HARD Summer 09 every event has gotten better.

But basically HARD MIA, Audiotistic, Love Festival, and HARD Summer will all determine the fate of raves in Southern California so I hope they all run smoothly and get these politicians off our back and let us rave.

I know. But you be silly to think what HARD does wont have any implications on the rave culture. Audiotistic isn't a 'rave' either. Just look at any news article from last August when HARD Summer shut down. They made sure to put HARD was a rave.

Either way it's an event where a majority of the artists are under the EDM umbrella. And if I'm not mistaken this year's HARD Summer doesnt have any alternative acts.
