I might, a lot of friends have been going for years and it sort of a tradition for them and they want me to go with them. Sort of a "you do this for us and will do that for you." If I go to Coachella they will go to Burning Man with I.

I've been trying but Coachella doesn't really attract my attention much. May be this year I might finally give it a try.

Just interested to know who's going and if any one would like to carpool?

I may be going this year. Last year I went for the first time. I decided to do the work exchange program where you volunteer for about 16 hours over the three days in exchange for a free ticket and camping.

I don't know if i'd do it again (volunteer)... I ended up missing most of the bands on Friday AND Saturday... Other than that, it was a cool experience though. Like Burning Man lite, I'd assume. :P

if you're really tight on money, you can do the volunteer thing... Really, I'm glad I had the option last year otherwise I don't know that i could have afforded it. But nothing is a pretty damn good price to pay for three days of Coachella, even if you don't get to be "free" the whole time. Some of the guys I met there actually got assigned to working inside the festival area, which sounded pretty sweet. :P

They do mention it there, but one of the production companies for the event (Shimon Presents) actually handles the volunteers. They don't have info for coachella yet, but the program is called "Work Exchange Team" (https://www.workexchangeteam.com/)

They don't have info yet, as I remember it was actually in January when I applied last year. (or this year, I guess :P) You submit an application and if you get accepted you have to pay a deposit that you get refunded upon completion of your shifts. That is the one bummer - you still have to put up the money. But I got my money back a few days after Coachella, so that was good. :)

Anyways, the program definitely has it's flaws, and you definitely should consider all that, but if you're willing to jump through their hoops, you get a really fun experience at an extremely reasonable price!

Definitely true. I mean, it kind of makes sense... Otherwise people would have no obligation to fulfill their commitments to the program once they got the ticket in their hand. :)

How do they fix that problem at burning man? Have you ever done the volunteer thing? I'm seriously considering it next year. I have several friends who literally live through every year just so they can go out "to the burn". :P

Coachella is a must you have to atleast say you've gone even if just once. Yeah it can be expensive but it's not until April so time to start saving eh. Luckily for me it's right in my backyard haha.. like literally I can hear the music outside so awesome. :)

I'm going again for my 21st birthday, this will be my second year. No more car camping for me though, as cool as it was being around other attendees, it was wayyyy too hot and pretty crazy 24/7, I was exhausted by day 2.

And to everyone wondering about volunteering, DEFINITELY look into it. I had some friends do it last year, I think (but don't quote me) they had to work a total of 10-12 hours all weekend.

Yea, I ended up working 18, but most people got off light, from what I heard.

I live in the desert so I'm use to heat. Not too excited for it. I've actually known about coachella for a while now. I just never been too into it. Heck, my bro attended in 2006 and saw Daft Punk.

Ya both of my brothers attended in early 2000, so I heard about it but wasn't interested up until last year. It was my first music festival and the lineup was amazing, I just wish I wouldn't have been so damned exhausted by day 2. Sunday was difficult as hell to get through, but finally seeing Gorillaz made up for it.

Oh, and on a thread in the Coachella forums, some guy talked to Rusko after a show, he confirmed that he's gonna be there in 2011. Take that with a grain of salt, but we'll see in a couple months...

A lot of people are saying Arcade Fire is going to be headlining one of the days. FlyLo making an appearance is unlikely, as artists rarely perform 3 years in a row. As for Daft Punk, Fake Blood, and Justice, I'm completely with you on those. Justice appropriate (not Club 75) has been pretty quiet in the states I think, so a Coachella appearance would be amazing.

Ah, I see. Well I suppose it'll be what you make of it. There's plenty to do, and of course don't limit yourself to the Sahara. I dunno if you're into more "indie" music but Coachella always has plenty of that.
