As a dog trainer for over 10 years, I've seen and heard just about everything when it comes to canines. There are a lot of misconceptions out there. The most common one? That it's okay to leave dogs home alone every day.

It's easy to think of a pet as a decorative accessory--something that makes our time at home a little brighter and cheerful. We love walking in through the door at the end of a long day and having our dog greet us. We love going outside and having our dog trot around with us or play with the kids. We enjoy the love and comfort they give to us, but we rarely think of the love and comfort we should be giving them.

As responsible dog owners, it's our duty to make sure our pet is safe, healthy, and has adequate food, water, and shelter. It's also our duty to fulfill their natural instinct to be part of a pack.
