Are any types of backpacks allowed at all? My costume doesnt have any pockets and i could really use one or at least some kind of bag to carry a few things, just wondering what my options are.

Single-pocket fanny packs and small single-pocket purses are OK. The problem with backpacks is that they are prohibitively difficult to search, as well as encouraging people to load up with items that they should not be bringing. We want to reduce the time it takes guests to enter the event.

Some athletic shorts are made of thin fabric and have pockets. These could be worn beneath certain costumes to allow you to hold keys wallets and cell phones.

If your costume doesn't accommodate shorts (especially girls' costumes that are designed to expose skin) you might look for a travel wallet at a department store or discount store. These attach to your arm, ankle, or sometimes around the midsection and hold small items very securely.
