Ok first of all if Hard is trying to make a pure event about music, why do they still serve alcohol? And why don't they have it during the daytime? Oh wait they tried that and they didn't make any money (Hard Summer). Also the reasoning for the drug enforcement honestly amuses me for a few reasons.

A. Kids are going to take their drugs prior to entry, odds are they will consume more at once which would be more dangerous then before.

B. The event still serves alcohol, 1 kid dies from a drug overdose and all the raves are on the verge of being shut down, how many people die from alcohol consumption and drunk driving each year? Yet you still don't have a problem serving alcohol?

C. No lights? So does that mean that the DJ sets are going to have 1 spot light on the DJ and no other special effects going on during their sets? No. There is gonna be lights and guess why your company is gonna make those lights so cool, whether you want to admit it or not its because lights look cool on drugs. I don't really see what your accomplishing from banning private lights.

D. Costumes. Since it isn't in any way a rave according to the standards of Hardfest, why can't I be a raver for Halloween? It's not like I dress like that all the time and this year maybe I wanted to be a raver. Your dress code welcomes costumes but thats what raving is. Fact is people don't goto the office with "Kandi" or "Fuzzy boots", its a costume.

In conclusion I don't think it is Hard's responsibility to be our parents. Thats who is to blame when their 15 year old kid dies from a overdose at a rave that costs $70 to enter. Where are the parents and why aren't their bad guidances being paraded about as much as your attempts to act as if your events are solely about the music.

Hard summer failed in 09 this is 2010, your way too late too use that one. Drug inforcement is something all event cooridnators are suppused to do, whether drugs get in or not it's just part of the responsibility when throwing large events.

A. Yeah that's gonna happen (most) kids are desperate.

B. It is what it is (alcohol isn't made out of crack and poison)

Did you attend HARD Summer this year? The event sold well since it was pretty full.

I don't see why not? It's legal and you have to be 21+ to purchase alcohol. I fail to understand how alcohol can be compared to drugs. Aside from if anything happens to you, its on you since you're old enough (18+) to know what's right from wrong. If you kill some one while driving intoxicated it's your fault not the event. They do promote to drink responsibly, but they have no control over what actions you take after consuming alcohol.

A) I don't see why allowing illegal drugs into an event will make them consume them less. Not to mention every big event out there prohibits drugs. Never the less, we go back to the point of "you're old enough to know what's right from wrong" and I add; you're responsible for your actions and the actions that will be taken towards you if found with possession of illegal drugs. LAPD is on scene and people will be reported and arrested.

B) I already answered your question about alcohol.

C) Actually HARD has hired the best "VJ" around. His name is Vello Virkhaus. They are not banning lights, they are banning glow sticks and gloves.

D) HARD encourages people to dress up for Halloween, you just need to use your imagination.

You pretty much answer your own questions with the following sentence; "In conclusion I don't think it is Hard's responsibility to be our parents." You're right, it's not HARD's responsibility to baby people, it is their responsibility to provide a safe environment for people to enjoy music along with others and that's why these rules are set.

i would say %85 of the people on this board really have no idea what is involved with getting a production like this off the ground.. There are so many politics involved i wouldnt even know where to begin.

First off i acknowledge your right to make your point so please dont take what i have to say the wrong way because the only problem you have is that you are only seeing this thing one way.

The other side of your argument is that its not really what HARD wants to offer... its what they are Allowed to offer. With that being said of course of someone wants to take a drug they are going to take it... but if the event makes a point to try and stop the drugs from entering the party then it looks better on the producers and the City wont give them shit for not doing it in the first place.

Through out time we have learned that people are going to do what they are going to do.. I mean the main thing at any event is saftey so again if they try to make some effort to avoid the drugs and illegal stuff entering the party then the better it is for the promoters in dealing with the city.

Also if they dont make it hard to keep the stuff out of HARD (no pun intended) then if something does happen like someone gets really sick in the party then the promoter can be held liable... do you really think the promoters are willing to risk that?

To be honest if a claim has to be paid out then thats money lost in their pocket which means the next event could suck.

As far as the alcohol thing goes... thats just politics man.. HARD isnt the government lol.. They are allowed to serve alcohol so why not? Offering bar service is just a simple way to provide services to the people... But like drug consumption you have to remember that just because HARD provides bar service doesnt mean that they are saying "Get black out drunk on us"... just like drug use the alcohol consumption is each persons own responsibility and you have to be smart about it.

As far as the lights and drugs thing... dude your so off base its not even funny anymore... Every event has stage enhancements that are meant to give more emphasis on the performers and stimulate ones senses... You dont have to be rolling on E to enjoy cool stage effects man... Even concerts like the Kings Of Leon have cool lights and when i go see the Dodgers on Friday nights they shoot off fireworks... Are you saying even they only provide that stuff becasue they assume everyone is on drugs lol?

The individual lights are banned because of their association at other "RAVE" like type events... another reason why i dont get why you people try so hard to peg HHM as a rave when clearly they are trying to go the other direction.

since there has been enough hating on pooh here I'm going to save myself the energy and time and just try to strictly give you some answers here.

I was disappointed by the MIA cancellation... I'm not gonna lie when I woke up and saw that post from my new york bestie which read "HAHA hard la's cancelled sucks to be you" I actually started crying... I did a lot of research as to why this had happened and you know Mr. Richards said he wanted to make HARD Summer a bigger event, which I don't think is the straightforward truth. I think it was mainly because they weren't prepared enough for the new rules and regulations on security that emerged from the "EDC Incident". I wouldn't argue against a tough pre-sale, however I do think that the reason for that would actually be the line-up as it's not really what HARD's usual followers would expect. I personally love flying lotus (seen him twice), gaslamp killer, sleigh bells (seeing on friday), die antwoord (seeing on sunday) and whoever else was supposed to play, but I don't think they're really the type of music this crowd usually goes for.

As for the alcohol... I mean I know what you're saying because it's true but you also have to look at it from at ratio standpoint. I think there's way more accidents and deaths because there is much more alcohol consumption than ecstasy consumption. I mean, there is. Because it's been a part of human culture for years, doesn't kill your nervous system as badly and mainly because it's legal. As @Will said, it's all politics man. You think HARD, or any rave, would have those drug searches if the man wasn't making them? Are you kidding me? More business for them! I'm not saying HARD admins are vil capitalists trying to steal our money by killing us... but still I mean obviously it has to do with law and government.
