  • JoshJosh September 2010

    LAPD had a K-9 unit deployed at HARD Summer; if you want to spend a few nights in jail you can go ahead, try your luck.

    HARD wants to differentiate itself from other events or raves, they do not want any of these items at their events. A lot of these items are prohibited for your safety and so we can continue to enjoy such events. Please do not ruin the fun for every one else. If you have a problem with these rules, then may be HARD is not for you. The sad part about it will be, you don’t know what you’re going to be missing out on.

    I am NOT a Nitrus or HARD employee, I just posted this so people will stop spamming our thread section with repetitive questions.

  • JoshJosh September 2010

    The following rules apply for I.D.'s:

    AGE LIMIT: HARD Haunted Mansion is open to adults 18 & over. VALID GOVERNMENT -ISSUED ID is required. Must be 21+ to consume alcohol.

    As for passports, they are a government issued ID. They should be valid.

    School ID's are not valid.

    If you're from out of Country use your passport as an ID.

  • K0alaK0ala September 2010

    ok well...what if my plush backpack is a part of my costume. is that okay? like i wouldnt be anything without it. just plain old something.

  • KingPin1977KingPin1977 September 2010

    no kandi...correct?
    just asking because it doesn't state that in the "what NOT to bring" section...

    ^_^

  • JoshJosh September 2010

    No plush items even if you say its part of your costume.

    No Kandi counts as toys. I know because some one was whining on the forums about their beads being thrown in the trash at HARD Summer.

  • JoshJosh September 2010

    Try your luck, security will ask you to return your items to your vehicle and make line again... or they can throw em in the trash if you don't want to make line again.

  • DarkHorseDarkHorse September 2010

    Oh okay, so if we have gloves w/ a costume and the security isn't feeling it, we can go back to our car and put em away? Cuz my friends are gonna try that, no matter what I said.

    And out of country passports are okay? Sweet. Perfection.

  • JoshJosh September 2010

    Yep, the bad part about will be, you will have to make line all over again. Plus you will delay entrance for every one else.

  • jstdoitjstdoit September 2010

    k9's at every entrance? sounds intense

  • JoshJosh September 2010

    There's normaly only one gate for the shrine. I'm not sure what LAPD will do. Most likely K-9.

    Some dogs are trained to sniff out ecstasy

  • barbaybarbay September 2010

    girls cant wear fluffy boots? thats going to look so bad, can't they just search them intensely

  • JoshJosh September 2010

    No furry boots and no exception. Furry boots are just not allowed. I don't see why it would. :p

  • WillWill October 2010

    @Josh

    They know without the rave attire we might actually see their faces and not their mid-section and below...

    "Ohhh man... you looked way better at EDC"

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @Will

    Atleast they keep their ankles warm.

  • sghypesghype October 2010

    Military id's????????

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @sghype I'm sure there's no problem with military Id's, they do belong to the government after all. I do want to imply, that is mighty risky of you to bring your milt ID with you.

  • bubbleg123bubbleg123 October 2010

    3 questions:

    1) I know you said no plush material, but what about regular boots (like leather boots) or non-fluffy boot pretends? I have a pair to go over my shoes kind of like http://n.b5z.net/i/u/6146416/i/kizz-41_ezr.jpg for my Ace Frehley costume.

    I also want to check because I usually put my ID in my boot so not to lose it. I am fine taking off my boots and having them checked throughly but that's my go to spot for my ID.

    2) What is the smoking location at the Shrine? I haven't attended an event there yet and I am just wondering if one will be conveniently provided.

    3) I know you said no glow toys but is glow in the dark body paint allowed?

    Thanks, and thanks for the forum, the rules are strict, but definitely better to know about ahead of time.

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    1) Boots are fine as long as they don't have any fur on them.

    2) I don't believe there are any designated smoking areas. I am not a smoker myself but people were smoking around me in the shrine. If they do assign any smoking areas it will be highlighted on the HARD map or website. I know for sure there will be a 21+ designated drinking area.

    3) As long as its not in a stick or if its a toy you should be fine.

    No prob, if you feel any of your questions were not answered properly ask the forum admins.

  • robotickodiakrobotickodiak October 2010

    Anyone know about perscription drugs? I need my shit to live. LOL!

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    Should be fine if they are prescribed.

  • shaZam33shaZam33 October 2010

    Will they allow single pocket, drawstring athletic bags?

  • ceelowceelow October 2010

    will they accept birth certificate with a school id, im 18 but dont have licence/ca id :/

  • YukiYuki October 2010

    No, it must be a government issued ID with photo.

  • YukiYuki October 2010

    @ceelow Do you have a passport?

  • I_SNORT_COCAINEI_SNORT_COCAINE October 2010

    I was always told that theres no such thing as a stupid question, but came to realize theres such things as stupid people asking questions.

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @shaZam33

    No backpacks of any kind allowed. Small purses and I believe fanny packs are allowed.

  • sloppyjosloppyjo October 2010

    is gum allowed?

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @sloppyjo I think gum might not be allowed since it's a historic land mark.

  • Moooondragon69Moooondragon69 October 2010

    And the rules say no food allowed. That might count as a food.

  • DarkHorseDarkHorse October 2010

    Would a South African passport work? My cousin wants to go

  • YukiYuki October 2010

    Passports are fine.

  • DarkHorseDarkHorse October 2010

    Grazi

  • I have a santa/christmas related costume. I was going to wear some santa-looking fur trimmed boots, just a fur lining at the top.... wondering if I'll get turned away for that????

    I actually bought full furry boots that were red and white, ironically just because i thought they looked neat with my costume, not even for the rave feel >< and i knew i couldn't wear kandi but i didn't know about the fur boots! oh well i guess I'll be returning them... :( :( gr!

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @ashleyelizabeth1218

    if it's just a trim it should be fine. I mean like a 2-3 inch trim and the fur is not long but short im sure it should be fine. You might want to ask an admin to verify this though @Tom and @Yuki. Ask them, they will give you an answer.

  • thanks :)

  • ItsAndrooItsAndroo October 2010

    Will chapstick be allowed?

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    No prob. But please do verify with a forum administrator. Don't want you going to the event and getting turned away. :)

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @ItsAndroo Chapstick is fine. :)

  • SonikSonik October 2010

    chapstick isn't fine nor is gum they both have to be unopened though that might be acceptable not sure, they threw away my chapstick last time for Bloody Beetroots and gum not so sure about it but I think it applies for the same.

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @Sonim Yuki stated chapstick is fine but gum might not since its a historic place.

  • elleneellene October 2010

    my friends and I are dressing up as a pack of wolves for halloween and we all have big furry wolf hats with ears. Would these be allowed?

  • tamsyntamsyn October 2010

    Are synthetic dread falls accepted?

  • tamsyntamsyn October 2010

    i cant believe i even have to ask that.

  • dubstepkillaaadubstepkillaaa October 2010

    I'll go naked. Is that okay?

    Oh wait, this is HARD not insomnifail.

  • SonikSonik October 2010

    gum was acceptable last year..

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @ellene sure as long as they are not boots. Careful don't catch on fire. Ill take a fire extinguisher in my suit just incase. haha im kidding but a pack of wolves sounds awesome. :)

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @tamsyn

    They should be fine but u might want to verify with @tom or @Yuki.

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @Sonik "was"

  • LookitsstevenLookitssteven October 2010

    Do you think small drawstring bags allowed? i mean is it still considered a backpack?

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @lookitssteven Drawstring bags are not allowed.

  • adreamyxoxoxadreamyxoxox October 2010

    My costume involves putting rubber snakes in my hair. Do y'all think i'll be okay, or will they be considered as toys and make me take them out?

  • brandenbranden October 2010

    i lost my license at smokeout and im gonna have to order a new one but its not gonna come in time. do you think i can bring the temp id they give you with no pic and then my college id?

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @adreamyxoxo

    Are you going to dress up as medussa? Well if its part of your costume it should be ok but you'll have to ask the forum admins they will be able to answer your question.

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @branden

    If you have a passport you should be good to go. As for the temp ID, not sure how that will work you I'll have to direct you to the forum admins.

  • Moooondragon69Moooondragon69 October 2010

    Damn, i wish everyone was as helpful as @Josh.

  • pluviapluvia October 2010

    what about consular id's?

  • tomtom October 2010

    No Mexican consular IDs. This has already been discussed

  • emolleeemollee October 2010

    Can we wear spirit hoods?
    They are fuzzy animal hats
    spirithoods.com

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @emollee

    To be honest, they were selling those at HARD Summer.haha. Yes, they are fine.

  • adreamyxoxoxadreamyxoxox October 2010

    @Josh Yes, I am!
    Uh, who are the admins?

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @adreamyxoxo

    As long as it's part of your costume it should be fine.

    You'll probably get by with no problem since no one will want to look at you in eyes. :S

    Joking, but you will be searched just like every one else. :p

  • Hey, thanks for answering everyones questions! I hate waiting in a longgggg @ss line and then all my stuff gets thrown away or I have to turn around to put something back in the car. I know you said it a million times, no backpacks. However, you mentioned that small purses would be ok, a mini backpack is pretty similar. I mean a mini backpack the size of a small purse. one with no fur or crazy kandi kid stuff on it. Lots of parties say no backpacks but when I attend they let in girls with these mini backpacks... just checking because I'm pretty sure every girl (especially me) will lose their purse and a mini backpack will be much more effective...

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @dnceHARDluvmusic

    No prob, that's why I made this thread. :)

    I recommend for you to play it safe and bring a small purse.

  • Hey Josh, the other day you were saying furry boots aren't allowed, I did read something though on Yuki's page from about a month back that said that furry boots were okay to keep your legs warm, someone else asked too :P. has the information changed since she said that? or did you maybe not see that comment she left? I just want to be absolutely sure, because you were posting something different ( I didn't know if you've heard something change since).

    PLUS, I just found out I can't return my furry boots... sadface.

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @AshleyElizabeth1218

    I read the comment they were talking about leg warmers. They are different from the furry boots kandi kids wear.

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    Sorry to hear about the boots.

  • KronosKronos October 2010

    @Josh

    just clarifying about things like the spirit hoods. So that kind of material is only not ok on boots? when I first read no plush / furry stuff I pretty much pictured exactly those as what we weren't allowed to bring. I guess I'm just wondering what exactly is meant by no plush, other than the obvious toys.

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @Kronos

    It's not the material, it's a method people use to smuggle in contraband and that rule is set to try and prevent it. Yet, it is Halloween and HARD wants people to dress up, it's Security that has the final say at what goes in and what doesn't. I recommend to leave any already mentioned prohibited item at home, there are no exceptions. Please don't hold up the line for every one else, not to mention you are going to be asked to return your items to your vehicle or have the option of having a prohibited item confiscated.

  • megmeg October 2010

    I am still so confused as to whether or not furry leg warmers will be allowed in. My costume has fur type material on it and comes with fur leg warmers. It's part of the costume but has fur on it. You encourage dressing up but no plush items are allowed- Will I be able to wear my costume in if it has fur on it and comes with furry leg warmers?

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @meg

    Yuki stated leg warmers are fine. Is it like the one the rest of the forum is wearing? Spirit hoodie or furry rimmed coat? Should be okay. Like stated before it's up to Security what goes in. May be play it safe and do not wear so much fur, but then again that's just a recommendation from I. You never know. As far as furry boots and plush toys and dolls are not allowed.

  • MarcMarc October 2010

    Can i wear my Spartan plastic helmet?

  • megmeg October 2010

    k

  • TaniaTania October 2010

    I don't have any questions regarding this topic.
    But who can I ask when my tickets will come? I purchased them on 10/12 and I got regular shipping. How long does it usually take?
    Help! Im soooo stoked for HARD HAUNTEDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Moooondragon69Moooondragon69 October 2010

    My ticket came in within five days of ordering it as did my girlfriend's and others. Check your receipt to make sure you put the right shipping address. I don't see why it would be taking so long.

  • ceelowceelow October 2010

    Sorry this is off topic but I don't know where to ask.

    I just want to go Saturday night but they're sold out.
    I know of an outlet that's just selling 2 day passes so could I buy one and sell my Sunday night ticket?
    Basically I'm asking is it like a wrist band where I have to go both nights or are they separate tickets?

  • VelvetikkaVelvetikka October 2010

    @Tania

    Uh, are you sure you didn't do will call? I ordered mine monday and got them today.

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @Everyone

    I'm on a mobile phone and some what busy. So bare with me I'll respond in a couple of hours.

    My apologies.

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @Marc

    Should be fine since it's a helmet. Going as one of the characters from 300? haha

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @Meg

    Exactly! Security has the final say what goes in and what does not. As far as furry boots, light gloves, glow sticks, and the already mentioned items above they are a definitely no no. Leg warmers are an exception.

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @Tania

    You might want to contact groove tickets. Here's their phone number, give em a call, they should be able to answer your questions regarding the status of your tickets.

    Tickets By Phone: 877-71-GROOV (47668)

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @Ceelow

    They are separate tickets, a couple of my friends bough theirs before I. hahaha.

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @cookielover

    Not sure about the gloves man. As long as they don't light up. Then again like I stated before security has the final decision.

  • arthelzarthelz October 2010

    hi im just wondering if i could wear these two items:

    this type of fanny pack : http://www.australiagift.com/toy_stores/new2/fanny_pack_koalab.jpg

    this type of leg warmers: http://images.teamsugar.com/files/usr/1/12984/leg%20warmers.jpg

    thanks :)

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @arthelz

    that type of fanny pack will not be allowed.

    Those leg warmers are fine. pretty cute also. haha.

  • narsnars October 2010

    probably a dumb question, but it doesnt hurt to ask
    for the light toys, do mickey mouse ears/headband that light up count? becuasee i wouldnt necessarily say mouse ears are toyss... :)

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @Nars

    Should be fine.

  • cookielovercookielover October 2010

    @josh thanks for the info man! Hey another question about id checking how does that works hand held scanners or by simply security lookin at u and ur pic???

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @cookielover

    I believe they might have a scanner not so sure though. Why are you so concerned about it? seems fishy. :p If you have a passport it's also acceptable as far as school IDs they are not and no temporary licenses.

  • cookielovercookielover October 2010

    Yeah I know its a lil fishy its just that my friends want to go but he's id its all fugde up from carrying it in he's pocket and not his wallet and he lost weight so he looks a lil different from his pic! He's conncern that security might not think its him lol

  • cookielovercookielover October 2010

    @josh that last comment was directed to you man I'm using my phone so it gets a lil different from using my lap top! I forgot to type in @josh lol

  • TaniaTania October 2010

    Thank you Josh!
    And did you say you receive seperate tickets? I got my day 2 tickets in the mail yesterday. Im flippin out because I paid for 2 days. Thats $130! Ugh, anyways I will call and ask. Thank you!

  • VelvetikkaVelvetikka October 2010

    i think they're gonna have a scanner. that's what they usually do nowadays.

    its faster ya know?

  • Moooondragon69Moooondragon69 October 2010

    Yuki said they will have scanners.

  • cookielovercookielover October 2010

    damn cant wait for HHM!!! ill be going sunday since i dont work monday!!!! yeaaaa

  • PillerTopPillerTop October 2010

    Ok so .. I done have my driver's license, but I got a temporary one. I do have a passport, but that is expired. Should I bring just the temp, or just the passport, or should I bring both? ooooor am I totally screwed?

  • Moooondragon69Moooondragon69 October 2010

    You can't renew your passport in time? Or else i think you might be screwed.

  • JoshJosh October 2010

    @Pillertop

    It sounds like you're out of luck man.
